Endagered Species. There are only four outdoor phone booths remaining in Manhattan.

Not quite as alarming as it first sounds, as the author is referring specifically to four-walled enclosed phone booths, and there are I understand still many public payphones on the ground. But still, a sign of the diminishing role of the public phone and the idea that it may be useful for long or private conversations.
