CNN's interactive 360° videos of Haiti. I have not come across this technology before, using your mouse, you can look around while the video plays. The effect is a little unsettling, given the content, like having access to a surveillance camera surveying the devastation, while I sit in an air-conditioned office drinking tea.

    Hi Marcus,

You’ve seen the tech before with Google Street View. Same tech as the first cameras they used shoot video…Google downgraded to stills because of project scale. Your sentiment is well understood, it is disturbing to watch anything from Haiti while comfortable, but this footage is actually part of a mapping project to assist in the relief and rebuilding effort, and it is being offered free of charge. You’ll be seening a great deal more of this in the near future from both IM and its partners in the travel industry, SlopeViews. Let’s do a project in Australia!
