Archinect has an interview up with Dutch model maker Vincent de Rijk who runs the model shop that makes the models for OMA and MVRDV amongst others. Somewhat naively I always assumed that those offices made their models in house; it is interesting to see that the models that identify the office’s with is very much a collaboration with a very thoughtful craftsman.

For me its important to find the simplicity in the project and to find what the main characteristic or feature is…something that you can take away from it. … It should be an object. That’s what I always try to make. Of course its a representation of a building, but its also a representation of an idea.”
