Peter Schjeldahl reviews the stained-glass windows of German artists Gerard Richter and Sigmar Polke. Richter overlayed a colour grid across the vast south transept window of Cologne Cathedral while Polke uses a mosaic of thinly sliced coloured stones to glaze 12 smaller windows in the Zurich Grossmünster.
